Late in the afternoon of their last day, ;[22:59.25]Ann and Jane were on the beach. ;[23:01.11]Jane asked her why she never ate with them in the hotel restaurant. ;[23:04.67]The food was excellent. ;[23:06.52]Ann told her all about her money problems. ;[23:09.75]Jane looked at her for a minute, and then said,"But didn't you know? ;[23:15.40]The price of this holiday includes absolutely everything!" ;[23:20.34] Additional Information ;[23:23.19] TRAVEL BOOKS ;[23:25.32]There are several ways you can find out about the countries ;[23:29.00]and places you wish to visit. ;[23:30.83]You can talk to friends who have travelled to the places. ;[23:33.80]Or you can go and see a colour film about them. ;[23:36.41]Or you can read travel books. ;[23:39.02]It would seem that there are three kinds of travel books. ;[23:42.68]The first are those that give a personal, ;[23:45.11]subjective account of travels which the author has actually made himself. ;[23:49.40]If they are informative and have a good index ;[23:52.14]then they can be useful to you when you are planning your travels. ;[23:55.45]The second kind are those books whose purpose is to give ;[23:59.04]a purely objective description of things to be done and seen. ;[24:02.93]If a well-read, ;[24:04.07]cultured person has written such a book then it is even more useful. ;[24:08.15]It can be classified as a selective guide book. ;[24:12.14]The third kind are those books which are called 'a guide' ;[24:16.04]to some place or other. If they are good, they will, ;[24:19.73]in addition to their factual information, ;[24:21.77]give an analysis or an interpretation. ;[24:25.18]like the first kind they can be inspiring and entertaining. ;[24:29.12]But their primary function is to assist the reader ;[24:31.83]who wishes to plan in the most practical way. ;[24:34.53]Whatever kind of travel book you choose ;[24:37.45]you must make sure that it does not describe everything as "marvellous", ;[24:42.06]"fabulous"or "magical", ;[24:44.48]You must also note its date of publication ;[24:47.42]because travel is a very practical affair ;[24:49.94]and many things change quickly in the twentieth century. ;[24:52.84]Finally,you should make sure that the contents are well presented ;[24:57.06]and easy to find. ;[25:37.75]Lesson 13 ;[25:41.13] What's Wrong with Them? Text A ;[25:46.25]I'm forty and married with two children. ;[25:49.58]My trouble is that I haven't got enough to do. ;[25:52.14]The kids are at school all day and the house is empty. ;[25:55.18]So I eat chocolates, mostly. ;[25:57.89]I've put on a lot of weight, but I can't give them up. ;[26:00.98]I try as hard as I can but I just can't stop eating. ;[26:05.44]Doctor Bruce writes: I think Mrs Allen would be happier if she found a job, ;[26:11.23]or if she got out of the house more and made some interesting friends. ;[26:15.17]If she did that,I think the weight problem would be solved. ;[26:19.68]I'm sixteen. My trouble is my spotty skin. ;[26:24.62]I've used all the creams on the market, but none of them do any good. ;[26:28.56]And now I've met a marvellous girl. ;[26:30.94]But I'm afraid to ask her to go out with me. ;[26:33.98]Doctor Bruce writes: ;[26:36.40]Most teenagers suffer from this,of course, at some time or other. ;[26:40.15]And it makes them very shy and self-conscious. ;[26:43.09]"What will other people think of me, if they see me like this?" They wonder. ;[26:47.13]And it's a pity, because if they didn't worry so much, ;[26:50.41]the skin trouble would soon disappear. ;[26:52.68]Tom should learn a relaxation technique, yoga for example. ;[26:56.67]Then I think he'd solve the problem very quickly. ;[27:00.62]My problem is time. I haven't enough of it. ;[27:04.60]I sleep badly, and I wake up tired. ;[27:07.36]I get indigestion every day ;[27:09.30]and now I'm beginning to get bad headaches and pains in my chest. ;[27:12.72]And don't tell me to take a holiday, doctor. I haven't got time. ;[27:17.35]Doctor Bruce writes: If Mr Tyler had more common sense, ;[27:22.53]he'd find the time to have a holiday, or change his job. ;[27:25.80]If he thought for a minute,he'd see that he can't go on like this. ;[27:29.46]He should rest more. Then he'd work better. ;[27:32.88]But that's the silly thing about men like him. ;[27:35.49]They only believe they're ill when they're almost dead. ; 对不起,这个教程没有文本下载!
